Through strategic collaboration with key industrial players, we accelerated the digital transformation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, our pivotal partnership with YGL Convergence was instrumental in providing essential digital solutions to SMEs. 🔊 Calling F&B, Beauty & Wellness, and Education & Training businesses in Penang — help a final-year student's research project.

Digital Penang is helping final-year Computer Science students from INTI International University & Colleges, Penang, find local businesses willing to participate in their research project, 𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀 — an AI "what-if" simulation tool they've built to help micro and small business owners think through decisions like raising prices, opening a second outlet, or a supplier's cost going up.

This is a student-led research project, and Digital Penang is lending our reach to help them connect with a small number of willing businesses, as part of our role in supporting Penang's SME community.

👉 Looking for 3–5 businesses from each of these sectors:
🍜 Food & Beverage — hawker-style cafés, kopitiam, modern cafés, dessert cafés
💆 Beauty, Massage & Spa — hair salons, barbershops, reflexology centres, spa & massage centres

Here's a look at the conversations and collaborations that shaped our week at Digital Penang. 🚀

1. On 2 September, Digital Penang officially welcomed 20 selected founders to the Creative Content AI OPC Incubator Programme through our onboarding session. We look forward to supporting these founders as they develop their ideas, harness AI, and turn creativity into meaningful impact. 🎨🤖

2. On 3 September, Digital Penang, in collaboration with PayRecon Asia, hosted the “Beyond Price: Building a Smarter Business” workshop. Participants explored market trends shaping the future of retail, how connected operations can improve business efficiency, and a live demonstration of an end-to-end order-to-fulfilment workflow.

3. Also on 3 September, Digital Penang, represented by Mr. Cseng Lim, attended the Festival of Marketing Asia, organised by Campaign Asia, Haymarket, and Mr. Jaime Ng. The event provided a valuable platform to connect and exchange insights with marketing experts, senior leaders, and practitioners across the industry. 📣

4. On 8 September, Digital Penang collaborated with SUNWAY FutureX DI (42 Penang) for the “Lunch and Learn: AI Productivity, Data Intelligence & Automation” session at KOMTAR. The session explored practical AI tools for workplace productivity, data intelligence for better decision-making, and automation to streamline processes, with insights that government officers can apply in their daily work. 🤖

5. On 9 September, Digital Penang participated with a booth at Alliance Bank Malaysia's Empowering SMEs with E-Invoicing Knowledge & Digital Business Solutions event at Menara Hasil Penang. It was a great opportunity to connect with business owners, introduce Digital Penang's initiatives, and build meaningful connections within the SME community. 🤝

6. On 9 September, Digital Penang, represented by our Director of Ecosystem Development, participated as a judge in QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge – SMARTUP WEEK, organised by Leading Cities. The session brought together top startups for one-on-one evaluations, feedback, and insights as they worked towards being selected among the Top 10 finalists.

7. Also on 9 September, Digital Penang welcomed a delegation from Thaksin University, Thailand, together with Plixstar and Exabytes (MY), for an engaging exchange on Malaysia's and Penang's technology ecosystem. The session covered digital tools and startup insights into the opportunities and challenges of building businesses.

8. On 10 September, our CEO, Ts. Ng Kwang Ming, joined a panel session at Digital Government Exchange 2026 (DGX26) in Sarawak. It was a pleasure to be part of the conversation and share Penang’s experiences and perspectives on digital transformation, while exchanging insights with leaders from across the region.

On 11 September, we hosted another episode of the podcast, this time exploring “Digital Productivity: Helping Business Work Smarter.” What made this session extra special was that it marked our first Tamil podcast episode of the year!
