PENANG, 26 January 2026 – Digital Penang was pleased to welcome a delegation from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as part of their regional benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening university commercialisation and enterprise capabilities. The delegation included Dr. Masairol Hj Masri (AVC – IEED), Mr. Khairul Anwar Hj Shahari (Bursar), and Mr. Afiq Mohammed (IEED – BDM).
The visit formed part of UBD’s broader initiative to learn from successful campus-based business and innovation models across ASEAN, including university holdings structures, spin-offs, venture creation mechanisms, and investment ecosystems. Through this engagement, UBD aims to enhance its long-term innovation, enterprise, and commercialisation objectives while building meaningful partnerships with key ecosystem players in the region.
During the session at Digital Penang, discussions centred on Penang’s digital economy landscape, the state’s approach to ecosystem-driven innovation, and how collaborative platforms can support the translation of research and ideas into market-ready solutions.
