PENANG, 25 February 2025 – Digital Penang recently hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) Sabah and its agencies, fostering a meaningful dialogue on Ecosystem Development in Malaysia, digital innovation, and future collaborations. During this visit, Digital Penang shared its mission and key initiatives under the Digital Economy Master Plan (DEMP) 2025-2027, highlighting our commitment to Accelerating Penang’s Digital Economy.
Discussions focused on Penang’s startup ecosystem, community-driven digital programs, and the unique operational model of Digital Penang. A core emphasis was placed on Ecosystem Development in Malaysia, where each state is encouraged to leverage its distinct advantages, involve the right stakeholders—including investors—and consider the maturity and resources available to support entrepreneurs. This underscores the importance of tailored strategies, as every region’s needs and strengths differ.
The session also explored future collaboration opportunities between Penang and Sabah, building on our successful partnership in the 2024 SheLovesTech national-level competition. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the MOSTI Sabah delegates for their valuable insights, including representatives from Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC), Perpustakaan Negeri Sabah, JPSM, JPKN, Sabah Net Sdn Bhd, SIRIM Berhad Sabah, IDS, and UPEN Sabah. Their commitment to driving innovation in their respective fields exemplifies the collaborative spirit needed to advance Ecosystem Development in Malaysia.
Digital Penang looks forward to strengthening these partnerships, further uniting Penang and Sabah in shaping a thriving digital future for the nation.
