PENANG, 23 October 2024 – Digital Penang, a Penang State Government-Linked Company driving digital transformation within the state, is proud to announce the Penang Go Digital Carnival (PGDC 2024), set to take place on 10 November 2024, at the PICCA Convention Centre in Butterworth. This landmark event is fully supported by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, who also serves as the chairman of Digital Penang. It represents a significant step in the state’s transformation journey towards a digitally engaged society and state.
The carnival is a testament to Penang’s unwavering commitment to the Penang2030 vision of transforming the state into a smart, digitally advanced centre. It will offer participants an immersive experience in the latest digital technologies, reflecting the ongoing efforts to drive digital adoption and foster digital literacy within the state.
Empowering Penang through Digital Innovation
Since its inception in April 2020, Digital Penang has been at the forefront of propelling the digital economy forward. With strong support from our partners, Digital Penang has organised over 600 digital classes, reaching more than 13,000 community members. Our initiatives now support 200 homegrown startups across various technology verticals, and we have equipped over 1,530 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with essential digital tools and strategies.
“These digital initiatives are already delivering remarkable outcomes,” said YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang and Chairman of Digital Penang. “Through the Market Access Indonesia programme, which fostered cross-border collaborations between Digital Penang and Indonesian ecosystem builders, one of our startups successfully secured an RM 3 million investment. Furthermore, a Penang-based blockchain startup has been accepted into the XDC Accelerator programme in Singapore, with the opportunity to receive USD 100,000 in funding upon completion. These successes underscore the immense potential of Penang as a thriving centre for digital innovation.”

One of these startups achieved significant recognition by winning the Techsauce Innovation Award 2024 at the Techsauce Global Summit in Bangkok, one of Asia’s leading technology events.”
