PENANG, 9 August 2025 – The Penang State Government officially launched the Penang Digital Economy Master Plan 2025-2030 today at G Hotel Gurney, Penang in the inaugural Penang Digital Economy Summit 2025.
The master plan was officiated and launched by YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, accompanied by YB Tuan Zairil Khir Johari, Penang Exco for Infrastructure, Transport and Digital and Ts. Ng Kwang Ming, CEO of Digital Penang.
YB Zairil Khir Johari said that the strategic plan aims to raise the digital economy contribution to 35% of Penang’s GDP by 2030 and increasing Penang’s GDP overall from RM116 billion to RM156 billion in the same period.
YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang said DEMP 2025-2030 is a long-term strategic roadmap aimed at positioning Penang as a digital-first economy focused on innovation, infrastructure, talent development and inclusive digital access.
Digital Penang, the organiser for PDES 2025 and the DEMP 2025-2030, extends it thanks to YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang and YB Tuan Zairil Khir Johari, Penang Exco for Infrastructure, Transport and Digital, its Board of Directors, 40+ stakeholders where its collective initiative made up this DEMP 2025-2030 strategic plan including federal government agencies & GLCs, state agencies & GLCs, industries, corporates, startups and SMEs who came together to forge this path forward.
