Delegation from Tsinghua University Fundamental Industry Training Center

PENANG, 18 December 2025 – Digital Penang welcomed a delegation comprising representatives from the Fundamental Industry Training Center of Tsinghua University and partner institutions for a discussion on potential collaboration opportunities.

The delegation included Prof. Li Shuang Shou, Director of the Teaching Committee; Mr. Shi Banghong, Researcher and Director of the Technical Committee for the “Coordinated Promotion Plan for Science Education and Engineering Education” at UNESCO’s International Center for Engineering Education (ICEE), and Dean of the Beijing Huizhong Education Research Institute; Dr. Li Fan, Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Office; Dr. Zhang Qi, Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Department; Mr. Zhao Chang Cheng, Business Manager of the Research and Promotion Department; Ms. Tina Nian, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Committee, China Foundation for International Science Exchange; Mr. Wang Bing, General Manager of Beijing Yidao Education Technology Co. Ltd; and Ms. Chow Ayi Lian, CEO of SAT Navigation Sensing and Communication Sdn Bhd.

Discussions included an introduction to iCenter, an interdisciplinary incubation platform under Tsinghua University that focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship development, AI-driven programmes, and structured capability-building initiatives. The delegation also shared insights into iCenter’s approaches to nurturing startups, developing digital capabilities, and supporting innovation-led growth.

During the session, both parties engaged in constructive discussions on translating existing frameworks into practical collaboration. Key areas explored included the establishment of a two-way incubation network to support technology companies from both regions, the co-creation of a China–Malaysia AI+ innovation competition, joint digital talent training programmes aligned with Penang’s needs, and closer cooperation to promote the application of AI solutions across key industries.

Digital Penang appreciates the visit and the open exchange of perspectives, which helped surface potential programme ideas such as industry showcases, SME-focused capability initiatives, and pilot collaborations to support digital readiness and ecosystem growth.
