We are hiring interns to join our team with opportunities to accelerate their career in digital, technology, marketing and start-up building for the Penang ecosystem. As an intern, you will be working closely with the executive of the department who will provide you with real hands-on projects and daily tasks to assist Digital Penang in its programs.

Interns will be able to apply classroom-based knowledge to projects and gain essential skills needed to be career ready. If you are someone who strives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and excited to contribute to Penang’s ecosystem, then we look forward to hearing from you!

1. ECOSYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

As an Intern at this department, you will be exposed to programs organized by the Ecosystem Department.

Academic Qualification:

• Bachelors/master’s degree in Entrepreneurship / Event Management/ Business or any related discipline.

Job Requirements:

• Passionate to gain experience in startups, entrepreneurship, and ecosystem building.
• Passionate to gain experience in a role focused on technology/digital initiatives/entrepreneurships /startups (e.g., business analyst, startup founder, entrepreneur, hustler, go-getter, etc.)
• Exposure to event management in planning and co-ordination of departmental events.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

 

2. FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION/DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

As an Intern at this department, you will be part of the Finance, Administration and Digital Transformation team to support the day-to-day activities as assigned by supervisor.

Academic Qualification:

• Bachelors/master’s degree in business studies/Administration/Management, Human Resource Management or any related discipline.

Job Requirements:

• Interested to gain experience and exposure in office operations and management.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate ideas effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Good working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
• Exposure to event management by assisting in planning and co-ordination of departmental events.

3. AGILE SOLUTION/IT

As a Technology Intern at Digital Penang, you are part of a technology team who will work on the systems and solution customization and cloud development.

a) Full Stack Developer

Academic Qualification:

• Bachelors/master’s degree in software engineering, Information Technology, or any related disciplines.

Job Requirements:

• Strong knowledge on programming languages especially TypeScript and JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks (e.g., Vue.js 3, Nuxt.js) and MySQL.
• Knowledge in Docker and GCP is an advantage.
• Good personality, positive mindset and independent.
• Good hands-on skills, excellent analytical, problem-solving capabilities and able to work collaboratively with others.

b) UI/UX Designer

Academic Qualification:

• Diploma, bachelor’s degree in design, Multimedia, IT, or relevant fields

Job Requirements:

• Good technical design skill, knowledge, and attention to detail.
• Proficient in design and prototyping tools are a plus (Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop)
• Basic front-end development skills are a plus (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
• Good communication skills and a great team player with a can-do attitude.
• A portfolio to show good command in element design (Color, Typography, Space)
• A case study of UI/UX design is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Visual & interaction design. Assist to design wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and other design artifacts to communicate design ideas. You will be responsible for converting our UX strategy into UI design for responsive websites.
• Problem-solving. You will learn how to sort out the confusion and uncertainty in problem space and lead a focused and purpose-driven design solution implementation.
• Design validation. Every test session will be completed, the results analyzed, and recommendations put into practice.
• UX design. You will have the chance to speak directly with the users to clearly understand the problems they face, and then you can learn to offer them a solution.

4. BRANDING AND MARKETING

Academic Qualification:

• Bachelors/master’s degree in mass Comm / Marketing / Business or any related discipline.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to design visuals for social media, posters, events, and marketing collaterals.
• Has a knack with developing creative visuals for social media, posters and developing videos for social media.
• An independent, problem-solving individual with a teamwork spirit.
• A resourceful individual that possesses good project management skills.
• Proactive and driven to gain on-the-job social media and marketing experience.
