FirstSTEP Programme

About the Programme

This programme is for aspiring new entrepreneur in the Tech, Startup and non-tech Micro SMEs space looking to answer “How do I begin a business venture?

This programme has 5 modules (set) that will be taught in an engaging format every Saturday starting from 11 May to 15 June 2023 in Butterworth (Set 1) and 22 June to 20 July  Penang Island (Set 2).

The key outcome from the programme is for aspiring NEW founders to find its footing before seriously embarking on a business venture.

Set 1: 11 May – 15 June 2024 – Butterworth

Time: Every Saturday 9am – 1pm

Set 2: 22 June – 20 July 2024 – Penang Island
Location: Digital Penang
Time: Every Saturday 9am – 1pm

Module 3: Principles of Building Your MVP

Learn about the key principles of building your tech and non-tech MVP

Date: 25 May and 6 July

Module 4: Stories and Visibility

Understand effective methods to tell your stories that make an impact to your business

Date: 8 June and 13 July

Module 5: Basics of Pitching and Funding Channels

Learn about the basics of pitching, crafting a pitch deck and types of funding channels available to you.

Post Programme Support & Continuation

Tech Startups Route

You can continue to receive support to further develop your venture by participating in our StartupPenang500 programme, access to funding information and opportunities, access to business mentors and others. Be sure to also join our Startup Community

Micro SME Route (Non-Tech)

You can continue to receive support to build your business via the MELUP (Micro Entrepreneur Level Up) Programme, other free SMEs trainings and fundings. Remember to join our MSMEs Community
